Playas
del Coco (Beach)
Guanacaste's
principal port, Playas del Coco, is a colorful fishing town set
in a deep cove with consistently calm waters, which makes it a
safe swimming beach. Popular with the Ticos (Costa Rican's) this
town is lively all year round.
Playas
del Coco offers the visitor an unlimited amount of options whether
you enjoy skin diving, fine dining, shopping, water
sports, sailing, sport fishing or just soaking up the gold
coast.
Located
only 45 minutes to Costa Rica's new international airport,
Playas del Coco is without a doubt a destination of choice. |

Ocotal
Beach
Ocotal,
set in a similar but smaller bay to the south of Playas del
Coco, enjoys a quieter, more natural setting. Luxurious villas
and houses dot the hillsides of the peninsula overlooking
the incredible ocean site and volcanic sand beach of Ocotal. Though
this lovely
beach is a pleasant place to relax, most of the people who stay
at Ocotal use it as a base for skin diving and sport fishing
excursions. |
Hermosa
Beach
Playa
Hermosa is backed by tropical dry forest and washed by the
aquamarine waters of Culebra Bay. Because the bay's waters are
always tranquil, this beach offers excellent conditions for
swimming and windsurfing, whereas the rocky point that separates
them is a good snorkeling spot. Some of the countries newest
luxury hotels overlook Culebra bay from this beach and also
Panama beach. |

Panama
Beach
The
beach of Panama is known for the quality of its fishing
(particularly shellfish) and one of the calmest and safest water
in all Costa Rica. A lot of boats find refuge in this bay when
strong winds and storms affect the coast. |
Gulf
of Papagayo
The
small bay of Bahia Culebra is located just North of the small
town of Playas del Coco. The bay's waters hold an abundance of
fish and corals. There are a number of stunning beaches some of
which are quite popular, while others await discovery. A series
of small coves line the bay's shore. Papagayo bay is home to
Costa Rica's newly developing tourism center with beaches only
20 minutes to the international airport. The government's proposed development of this peninsula as an international
destination couldn't be more fitting. Dotted with four 18 hole
championship golf courses, a Four Seasons resort hotel and residential
development, Papagayo bay is the vacationers dream. |
